The Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission (TABC) is investigating the Killeen Applebee’s at 2700 E. Central Texas Expressway due to horrific accusations against a former employee.

If the investigation finds that the accusations are true, this could be very bad news for the popular restaurant.

Monty Darrell Bryant a former worker at Applebee's, who was sentenced to jail back in 2009 for failing to register as a sex offender, was arrested on May 6th on accusations made by a teenage co-worker.

The details of this story are disturbing.

Bryant is being held in Bell County Jail on a million-dollar bond and is facing first-degree felony charges of aggravated assault of a child, three-second-degree felony charges of sexual assault, and a third-degree felony charge of indecency with a child by exposure.

According to a report from Emily Hilley-Sierzchula with the Killeen Daily Herald, an arrest affidavit states Bryant knew the girl's age and told her “she is not worth going to jail for".

The affidavit also states that three instances occurred in Applebee’s parking lot where he allegedly sexually assaulted and exposed himself to her.

Unfortunately, the story gets worse.

In late September 2020 after the restaurant closed, allegedly Bryant sexually assaulted the teenage coworker in an Applebee’s bathroom when a coworker walked in.

My question is, did they notify authorities, or did they try to cover it up?

Owners of the Killeen Applebee's told the newspaper:

We contacted the authorities upon notification of the alleged incident and will continue to work with them as needed. Due to the ongoing investigation, we cannot comment further.”

On the other hand, the father of the teenager says Applebee's has "covered up" these accusations and "didn't seem to care about the situation." He says Brant groomed his daughter, and that the manager who caught Bryant in the act went to a supervisor instead of contacting police.

My question is, are background checks a requirement for employment at Applebee's or what? Why didn't Bryant's parole status for similar charges raise red flags?

I'm sure this isn't the last we'll hear about this story.
