This year Texas will host the 94th Annual MLB All-Star Game in Arlington, the home of the Texas Rangers. Since 1933, nearly every city that has a professional team has hosted the All-Star Game, aka the midsummer classic. That being said, this won't be the first time Arlington, or indeed Texas, has hosted the All-Star Game in MLB history; we've hosted the game a handful of times.

Houston was the first Texas city to host the MLB All-Star Game

The first time the Lone Star State hosted the All-Star Game was in 1968; the 39th annual All-Star game. 48,321 fans came to watch the first All-Star game held indoors at the Houston Astrodome, the home of the Houston Astros. Some of the most notable players at that game included Don Drysdale, Tom Seaver, Steve Carlton, Juan Marichal & Willie Mays, who would score in the 1st inning.

That would be the only score the entire game as the National League would win 1-0. This would also be Mickey Mantle's last appearance during an All-Star game.

Houston would host the All-Star game again in 1986; 45,774 fans packed the Astrodome to watch the 57th annual All-Star game. There were future Hall of Famers such as Roger Clemens, Kirby Puckett, Dave Winfield, Mike Schmidt, & Ozzie Smith duke it out. It was a tough game but the American League would beat the National League, 3-2

The last time Houston hosted the All-Star game was 20 years ago in 2004. This time it was held at Minute Maid Park; 41,886 watched the American League beat the National League, 9-4. This game would see future Hall of Famers like Ivan Rodriguez, Vladmir Guerrero, Ken Griffey Jr., Mike Piazza, and of course...Derek Jeter.

Arlington hosted its first All-Star Game in 1995

The home of the Texas Rangers, Arlington would host the 66th annual All-Star game in 1995. 50,920 fans would come to The Ballpark of Arlington to see The National League edge out a victory over the American League, the NL would win 3-2.

So far it's 2-2 between the National League & the American League in terms of wins in the state of Texas. We will see which league breaks that little tiebreaker in Arlington once July 16th rolls around.
