Alien Grave In Texas? Thanks To This Odd Law, We May Never Know
Legend says a UFO crashed in Texas in 1897 and its pilot was buried in the town cemetery. One thing could turn legend to fact; why won't anybody do it?
This was in Aurora, Texas about 50 years before the famous "Roswell Incident".(Beat 'ya again New Mexico - don't mess with Texas.) In Aurora's case, the story was pretty well documented and the alien's grave is easy to find. One simple act could settle this once and for all but the law won't allow it.
Quick synopsis: April 17th, 1897, the Dallas Morning News reports the crash and the subsequent burial of the alien, since named "Ned".
Knowing it was dug in the late 1890s before aliens invaded pop culture, makes it even more fascinating. After an unknown "airship" crashed into town, the locals gave the "martian" body a proper burial and even marked the headstone with a design to reflect what the ship looked like. - do512.com
No photographs were taken, not surprising 100 years before cell phones, and the authorities weren't called. (Again, it's 1897. Other than the sheriff, who was probably there, who you 'gonna call?)
The Aurora-ians decided to do the right thing; give ET ... aka Ned ... a proper Christian burial and call it a day. The grave is still there but the original headstone disappeared. (See a pic here.) It was replaced by a cross and a big rock which you can see here.
What's In Ned's Grave?
The grave is said to contain the aliens body and much of the wreckage. Ground radar has confirmed that something is in that grave but it would have to be dug up to see what and/or who it is.
Why Won't They Dig Up Ned's Grave?
Because, I'm not making this up, following a proper Christian burial; a body cannot be exhumed without the permission of the next of kin. Good luck figuring out where Ned was from, let alone getting a message to his folks.
Unless his descendants, (bearing proper ID which is a whole new can of bureaucratic worms), come looking for him and agree to the exhumation; we'll never know what's in there.
