Austin's relationship with technology is well known. Many have moved to the city for its advances in technology. We've also seen news organizations in the area devote entire parts of reporting to the tech in the area.

But, technology certainly moves faster than news, and new breakthroughs happen quicker and quicker. Sometimes, those new innovations are even tested right here in the Central Texas area. One of those new technological innovations is Daxbot.

What Is Daxbot And What Is Doing For Austin, Texas?

According to KXAN, Daxbot is being used by CTXPatrol. CTXPatrol,  located in the capitol of The Lone Star State, is using Daxbot in association with it's parent company. So the main question becomes, why would one see a Daxbot in Austin?

Well, in statement to KXAN from Michael Fallon, the CEO of CTXPatrol:

“They’re a deterrent for mischief. People see them, they’re less likely to do certain things. But they’re also a helper...It’s not meant to be intimidating. It’s meant to be a de-escalation and just a friendly object that’s going to basically make things go a little smoother.”

Daxbot isn't just wandering about alone however, there's a control center where individuals are watching their movements. Mason Reeves, the security sales lead at Daxbot said this to KXAN:

There’s a grid of nine or 12 screens on one larger screen [at the control center], and anytime the robot detects a person or an instance that needs to be looked at, the screen lights up.”

So it looks like you'll be seeing Daxbot around Austin, Texas!
