A delicious dozen varieties of chicken salad will soon be available with the opening of brand new Chicken Salad Chick locations in the Killeen, Texas area. This is a daily double, as there will be not only a Killeen location, but also one in Temple.

What is Chicken Salad Chick?

It's a newer franchise restaurant that is described as being fast casual. Their history is quite the story. According to the bio at ChickenSaladChick.com, founder Stacy Brown was on a quest to discover the perfect chicken salad recipe. She worked on it for a long time, and before long she literally became the chicken salad chick. Orders started pouring in, and after receiving a warning from the Lee County Alabama Health Department, she and her husband Kevin opened a take out only restaurant in Auburn, Alabama.

Why is it the 12 Days of Chickmas?

Because I'm the inventor of dad jokes, and there happens to be exactly 12 kinds of chicken salad on the menu. Imagine eating at a place that has just one thing on the menu, but yet 12 different experiences? You can actually go 12 times in a row, and try 12 variations of chicken salad. Of course they also have a variety of sides and desserts, and when you add the various bread options, you could probably lunch there every day for a month and always have a different meal.

When will it be open?

I don't know for sure yes, but courtesy of a recent press release, I know one will be opening soon in Killeen, and the other in Temple via the restaurateurs Austin Young and Sara Ingram.

They currently own a Chicken Salad Chick in Waco and plan to add 8 in the Austin area in addition to ours in Bell County.

Top 20 Restaurants Central Texans Wish Would Come to Temple

A while back, I asked the good people of Temple if they could picture a good restaurant to fill the lot on North General Bruce Drive where the soon to be torn down Long John Silver's stood.

This was before it was announced that a Dutch Bros. Coffee location would open there (which was one of the places I predicted as a contender in our article).

So now Dutch Bros. is open in that spot, but the responses to my survey were interesting because they paint a picture of just how diverse Temple's population is. People recommended some familiar restaurants with locations in the surrounding area, but also a few I'd never even heard of.

Here are the top 20 results of the survey. Let's see what the good people of Temple are craving!
