Texas’ Most Dangerous Intersection Is In Bell County
If you are driving a vehicle in 2026, you have been either the aggressor or victim in a road rage incident. If you live in Bell County, the odds are even higher.
Texas's Deadliest Crossings
Texas roads are facing a dual crisis as severe traffic collisions intersect with a rise in driver aggression, and it is being seen at city intersections. According to TxDot’s 2025 Driver Data, more than one in four motor vehicle accidents statewide occur at intersections, transforming routine daily commutes into high-risk navigation nightmares.
Locating the Crazy
A geographic breakdown of the most dangerous intersections in Texas reveals specific roads that consistently experience a high number of wrecks that result in injuries. At the absolute top of the list sits the junction of General Bruce Drive and H K Dodgen Loop (South) in Temple, Texas. Those of us who live and work in the area know it all too well. This crossing holds the state's No. 1 spot for wrecks resulting in thousands of injuries. The intersection of Central Expressway and University Drive (US-380) in McKinney comes in second place, followed closely by Round Rock’s bottleneck at AW Grimes Boulevard and Louis Henna Boulevard.

The Role of Escalating Driver Aggression
While high traffic volume explains a large portion of these intersection accidents, drivers with short tempers are making it even more dangerous. Texas is experiencing a surge in road rage incidents. According to the Road Rage Statistics in 2026 report by The Zebra, 82% of drivers nationwide admit to engaging in aggressive driving or full-blown road rage within the past year.
More People, More Road Rage
Texas finds itself at the epicenter of this national trend. The state has seen unprecedented growth, which means more people are on the roads. Another factor is tourist drivers in large cities like Dallas, Austin, San Antonio and Houston. The multiple lanes and road construction are hard enough for locals to maneuver, and we know where we are going! Throw in clueless tourists and you have a traffic nightmare.
Road Rage Behavior
Common acts of road rage include angry horn-honking (59%), screaming insults (42%), making offensive hand gestures (38%) or all of the above. And THAT is on a GOOD day!
