New Texas High School With Sky High Price Tag Opens
It's the start of a brand new school year and for some students in North Texas, they are attending a new High School that came with a hefty price tag and a ton of amazing features. And in some areas, it looks like a University setting rather than a High School.
Eagle Mountain High School was part of a $524.7 million dollar bond that passed in 2017 in Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD. The cost of the school came in at $271 million dollars according to WFAA.
The brand new Eagle Mountain High School was built to house 2400 students. Right now 800 students in grades 9-11 attend the school and they will add grade 12 in the future. The school has large lecture halls like the ones you would find on a college campus. It also has a large fine arts building. The athletic facilities include a stadium and field house plus an indoor practice facility. The school even comes with a coffee shop.
The Star-Telegram reported that the school library overlooks a courtyard with a pond. And the school also has a state of the art Performing Arts Center. The Star-Telegram also has many pictures of the new school.
If that isn't enough, basketball, gymnastics, cheerleading, and dance all have their own gyms.
A video from WFAA shows the massive size and modern look of the school.
Of course all of this has been built in anticipation of whats to come. Population. The school is located in a part of Tarrant County that is experiencing a lot of growth. In fact, WFAA reports that over 1,000 new homes will be built near the school.
The price tag is eye-popping, but we are seeing more and more of that across Texas.
