A Dallas police officer has found himself behind bars after being accused of stealing firearms.
The suspended Dallas Police Sergeant was booked into Rockwall County on Saturday and is being charged with property theft. The Royse City Police Department made the arrest after being contacted by the Dallas Police Department.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Sgt. Thomas Michael Fry is accused of stealing firearms from the Dallas Police Department from August of 2021 to July of 2022. Fry is accused of stealing the firearms from the Southeast Patrol Division where he was assigned at the time.
In addition to the property theft charge, Fry is also being charged with three counts of theft of a firearm.
The unit obtained a warrant for Fry, who was jailed on three counts of theft of a firearm after he turned himself in April 8 to Mesquite police. Sr. Cpl. Brian E. Martinez, a Dallas police spokesperson, said Fry was placed on administrative leave with pay the next day.
Fry joined the Dallas Police Department in 2001 and will remain on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. He was transferred from Rockwall County to Dallas County where he remains on bonds of $200,015.
