HEB Temple Distribution Center Set to Expand
Central Texas loves H-E-B, so it's not hard to imagine why the distribution center in Temple is expanding.
According to a report from our news partners at KWTX, the 800,000-square-foot H-E-B distribution center in Temple is set to expand by 250,000-square-feet.
“As we expand our business to serve more Texans, this project makes H-E-B more competitive and better positioned for the future and advances our ongoing commitment to be the best in-store and digital retailer in Texas,” said Bradley Alm, H-E-B director of strategic facility and capital planning. “This investment demonstrates H-E-B’s dedication to the local community and furthers our partnership with the city of Temple, Bell County and Temple EDC.”
H-E-B plans to start the expansion this year, and is hoping to have the job complete sometime in 2021.
The distribution center was originally 400,000 square feet and was built in 2009 according to Bizjournals. Over the years the distribution center has grown, but it still serves as a great location for the Central Texas region.
Since the pandemic of COVID-19 we've seen several items disappear from grocery store shelves. Hopefully with the expansion of this distribution center we can see a return of some of those items.
How do you feel about the distribution center expansion? Is it good for the city of Temple?
