Funeral Services For George Floyd Announced In Houston
As nationwide protests and demands for action continue across the country, George Floyd's family attorney announced plans to lay Mr. Floyd to rest in his hometown of Houston after a series of national memorial services in the coming days.
According to Black America Web, Floyd’s family attorney Benjamin Crump announced a memorial service will be held for Floyd in Minneapolis on Thursday, June 4th followed by another memorial in Floyd's birthplace in Fayetteville, North Carolina on Saturday, June 6th.
A public viewing will take place in Houston, the city where Floyd called home for most of his life on June 8th followed by a proper funeral service on Tuesday, June 9th.
Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather has announced that he will be paying for the funeral and UnitedHealth Group announced on Monday they would pay for George Floyd’s children’s college fund and donate $10 million to help Minneapolis & St. Paul rebuild in the wake of massive protests in the past week.
The news came just hours after an independent autopsy conducted by Dr. Michael Baden and Dr. Allecia Wilson revealed that Floyd died from “homicide caused by asphyxia due to neck and back compression that led to a lack of blood flow to the brain."
