Killeen Comes Together As The Highly Anticipated Braid-A-Thon Makes Its Comeback

The City of Killeen is welcoming back its annual Back-to-School Braid-A-Thon, a community event designed to help students from kindergarten through 12th grade start the school year looking and feeling their best. The event is organized by Sharon Bryant, owner and operator of M Salon, who has dedicated the past several years to bringing this much-needed service to local families.

What Is The Braid- A-Thon?

The Braid-A-Thon provides free braiding services and free haircuts for students, thanks to the generosity of talented Central Texas braiders, barbers, stylists, and community volunteers. The goal is not only to help children prepare for the upcoming school year but also to boost their confidence as they return to the classroom.

What Happended Last Year?

Last year's event was a tremendous success, with students and parents leaving with smiles on their faces. In addition to hair services, local vendors participated, and massage therapists were available to help parents relax and relieve some of the stress that often comes with back-to-school preparations.

Bryant says she is excited to continue collaborating with some of Central Texas's most talented stylists and salon professionals. Organizers are also seeking additional volunteers to contribute their time and skills in support of local students and families.

Where Is The Event Taking Place?

The event will take place on August 16, beginning at 8:00 a.m., at the Killeen Mall, in the M Salon. Community members are encouraged to come out, support the event, and help ensure that local children return to school with style, confidence, and a positive start to the new academic year.
