Florence police are asking for the public’s help after reports that a suspect, identified as Simarre Harris-Brunson, fled from officers in a vehicle and led police on a high-speed chase on Christmas Eve, according to authorities and KWTX.

The pursuit reached speeds of nearly 120 miles per hour and ended in a major crash followed by a vehicle fire, police stated. Authorities described the suspect’s actions as reckless, noting that Harris-Brunson collided with another vehicle, causing it to roll over before catching fire. Police say Harris-Brunson then fled the scene on foot, leaving his sister and her five-year-old child inside the burning vehicle.

A warrant has been issued for Harris-Brunson for evading arrest in a motor vehicle with serious bodily injury, a third-degree felony, as well as injury to a child, elderly, or disabled individual, a felony.
