In celebration of the first week of true fall in Texas, I thought it was important to gain some insight and let Killeen residents know that while harvest season may be here, it needs to be done right. And the only way to do it right is to get advice from the best of the best.

Native Texan RayAnn Brown, also known as the “Plant Lady,” is the go-to guru when it comes to green living. And no—we’re not talking about jealousy; we’re talking about a woman with a true gift for gardening and a well-earned reputation for an incredible green thumb.

Killeen's Plant Guru Rayann Brown Shares Her Knowledge in Her New Book

RayAnn is absolutely amazing. Her knowledge of plant life is so vast that people flock to her, eager to learn all they can about harvesting plants and growing vegetables. But that’s not all—this phenomenal woman is also the owner of Lady Productions and has recently added “author” to her résumé with the release of her exciting new picture book "Lady Ray Starts a Garden".

This book grows more than just vegetables. That’s right—RayAnn Brown isn’t just a green-thumb connoisseur; she’s also a passionate advocate for joyful, nature-based learning. She shared that the book is about more than just gardening—it’s about personal growth, inside and out. “I want kids to know they can bloom wherever they’re planted,” she said.

But she’s not just teaching our children confidence and growth—she’s also teaching adults how to survive off the land through gardening. RayAnn Brown is truly a pillar of her community, an active advocate for fairness and what’s right.

How could you not love her?

I had the privilege of meeting her in person, and my first thought was, “When I grow up, I want to be just like this woman.” All jokes aside, she is the embodiment of confidence, integrity, and compassion—an incredibly inspiring presence.

RayAnn Brown isn’t just teaching people how to grow plants—she’s helping them grow as individuals. In my book, she’s a win-win.
