I’m not exactly sure what it is about Killeen when it comes to the dating game, but the city has so many mixed feelings about dating here. I asked a number of people who have experience dating in the city what were the best parts about making romance and trying to find their soul mate, and some of the opinions just pretty much blew my mind.

Keep in mind, I’ve been out of the dating game for some time now (13 years, to be exact), so it could be a lot different than when I was a free agent.
I just figured the fundamentals of dating should be the same: make sure the person is nice, has a good sense of humor, and has a really good personality. But as it was explained to me, that was the old way of thinking and unfortunately it is a lot harder nowadays.

LOOKING FOR LOVE IN ALL THE WRONG PLACES

Some people said the reason why dating in Killeen is so hard is that, in a nutshell, everybody is married! Some people even said there are more cheaters out there nowadays, so a wedding ring might not even stop them.

Someone else told me people lack the bare necessities to even be datable. If you don’t have a car, a house, or gainful employment, you shouldn’t be dating at all.

I also had people tell me that some folks wanting to date are not physically and mentally available, meaning they never have time or can’t get a sitter to go out and have a nice moment or two.

Some respondents told me it was too small of a town and everybody knows everybody. I can find truth in that as well. I didn’t even know who my husband was when I first started dating him, but I knew of him just because of the town we live in.

Valentine’s Day is coming up February 14, and I’m hoping that we can change the perspective on dating in Central Texas altogether. I have a lot of faith in our town, but I think its romantic (and unmarried) citizens need to have a lot more availability!
