Couple Accused of Leaving Young Child Behind While Moving Out of Copperas Cove
A Copperas Cove couple, Erica Renee Sanders and her boyfriend, Keven Dwayne Adams, have allegedly committed a crime that has left many—especially parents—speechless.

The Investigation into the Copperas Cove Child Left Alone
According to Fox 44, the couple’s child came home from school as usual, but this time, something was very different and confusing. The apartment was empty—the family was gone. Police reported that it appeared the couple had moved out during the day while the child was at school. When he returned home, he discovered that everything, including his parents, was gone.
This incident took place on a Friday, and officers were called to Primrose Drive after the child went to a neighbor’s house for help. The confused child showed officers the empty apartment and identified his mother as Erica Renee Sanders and her boyfriend as Keven Dwayne Adams. The child explained that they had previously mentioned moving at some point, but it’s almost certain he didn’t realize they meant without him.
Couple Accused of Felony Child Abandonment in Copperas Cove Incident
Neighbors told officers that the couple had a history of kicking the child out of the home multiple times. After taking the appropriate steps, officers were able to contact the couple by phone. They claimed that the child’s uncle was supposed to pick him up, but they had no contact information for him.
However, when officials reached the actual uncle, he stated he knew nothing about picking up the child.
According to the affidavit, when Child Protective Services (CPS) was contacted, the couple refused to provide their current address. It was also noted that the child had been left alone after school for at least five hours. Copperas Cove police records show that both individuals were arrested on charges of abandoning or endangering a child, specifically, with no intent to return.
