A gathering of future students, staff, and members of the community got together at the new Lake Belton High School on Thursday to autograph the final construction pillar that will be lifted into place at the new home of the Broncos on Friday.

This means the construction of the new school is at about the halfway point to completion.

Belton ISD Superintendent, Dr. Susan Kincannon told KXXV.com, "Building a high school doesn't happen very often and it's just going to be something spectacular for our students..so we want to celebrate it every opportunity that we can."

It took almost $150 million to fund two new campuses and additional projects throughout Belton ISD. Lake Belton High School is now expected to be ready for the 2020-2021 school year.

A bond for nearly $150 million funded the construction of two new Belton ISD campuses and projects at two existing buildings. The school is expected to be completed in time for the 2020-2021 academic year. The gathering at the school on Thursday was a sign of things to come. People working together. Principle Jill Ross said that's what the new building was made for.

There are almost 3300 students at Belton High School. Belton ISD expects to have over 4000 students by the time the class of 2023 graduates from Lake Belton High School.

It will be interesting to see if a Belton High vs Lake Belton High rivalry will develop or if the new Belton High School will also go toe to toe with Temple High School as the Tigers do. This a good thing for Bell County communities all around.
