City of Killeen Partners With Moss Rose To Open Warming Center

The weather in Killeen, Texas has been up and down for as long as I can remember. One day you could be in Central Texas wearing shorts and a tank top, and not even two days later need a fur coat and winter boots.

STAY WARM KILLEEN, TEXAS

For the people that have lived here most of their lives that’s just a normal day.

This Friday night seems to be one of the nights that you’re going to need a warm jacket. Due to the weather being possibly below freezing, the City of Killeen has partnered with the Killeen Housing Authority the Moss Rose Community Center, and other community partners to provide a warming center for those in need tonight.

MAKE SURE TO STAY WARM TONIGHT

This warming center is set up for people to have temporary relief from the cold, so unfortunately no beds or showers are provided but it does put you in a place where you can keep warm.

You'll find this warming station at 1103 East Avenue E. It'll open at 6PM Friday, and run until 8AM Saturday.

The warming centers usually open up once the temperature or the wind-chill factor is forecasted as low as 32. If you’re interested in donating, please call 254-327-1164 to see if your donations will be excepted at the Moss Rose Center.
