Christina Aguilera took a break from 'The Voice' season 4 to focus on other things, though promoting 'Lotus' wasn't one of them. In any case, the diva will be back in her big red chair for season 5 of the NBC hit this fall -- for a price.

The Wrap reports that Aguilera signed a contract to return to the show for $17 million, the same amount she pocketed for season 3. (That salary has her just under fellow belter Mariah Carey's $18 million 'American Idol' salary and just above Jennifer Lopez's $15 million for her previous 'Idol' stint.)

Her negotiations were kept under wraps for a while, and NBC honchos and producers wouldn't reveal any details about the next season's coaches at the network's upfronts.

Aguilera announced her departure at the same time as Cee Lo Green, who left to focus on reforming Goodie Mob. She explained of her hiatus, “I need moments to step away from the camera. I have selected performances here and there right now … This is a sort of down time for me right now.” She added, “‘The Voice’ has always been amazing to me. Mark Burnett is such a positive person and truly understands that artists need their space to be artists. I’m not a robot — I can’t be in front of the camera all of the time! You learn as you grow in this business … you need a moment so you can offer more as an artist and as a coach.”

UPDATE: It's confirmed that Shakira will be leaving after coaching just one season.
