Child Rape Conviction Lands Fort Cavazos Soldier in Prison

Fort Cavazos Specialist Carlos Morales, a 25-year-old soldier, was sentenced to 35 years in prison after being found guilty of raping a child in 2024, according to KCENT. A military judge issued the sentence on February 14. In addition to his prison term, Morales received an honorable discharge from the First Cavalry Division, was reduced in rank to E-1, and was required to forfeit all his pay and allowances, according to the U.S. Army’s Office of Special Trials Counsel.

Soldier Assigned to Fort Cavazos Convicted of Child Rape, Receives Prison Sentence

The victim's mother,  learned on January 5, 2025, that Morales had been viewing the bedroom camera feed in their Nolansville home while she was at work. Upon discovering this, she notified the Nolansville Police Department, prompting an investigation into Morales, which also involved the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division.

Morales was arrested by the Nolansville Police Department on the same day the crime was reported, and he was held in Bell County until his trial. During the proceedings, lead prosecutor Colonel  Yoder stated that "both the child victim and her mother suffered incomprehensible harm and displayed remarkable courage over many months to finally testify in this case. The mission of the Office of Special Trials Counsel remains to advocate for uniquely vulnerable victims, such as the one involved in this case, "the lieutenant stated.
