This week we got a visit from some of our City of Temple friends who have lots of fun activities to tell you about this summer!

You can listen to our conversation in the video above with Nancy Glover of Transform Temple, Erin Gaines from the Temple Library's Summer Reading Program, and Bryan Chandler of the Temple Planning Department.

Erin Gaines told us all about the fun activities coming up at the Temple Library. Their facebook page is a great place to go to keep up on all the summer reading programs and fun activities for all ages over the next couple of months. Below are some links to the upcoming activities. For more information, you can always call the Temple Libray at 254-298-5555

  • Monday, June 3: Summer Reading Kickoff featuring Circus Chickendog
  • Thursday, June 6: Lucas Miller, the Singing Zoologist
  • Thursday, June 13: Move Your Tale Improvisational Storytelling
  • Thursday, June 20: Silly Sparkles Presents Her Silly Magic Puppet Show
  • Thursday, June 27: Hey Lolly Puppet Theater Presents 'Iris Saves the Land of Black and White'

Nancy Glover with Transform Temple is the person to talk to about all kinds of neighborhood services to the residents of Temple. Home improvement, tool rental (all you need is a library card), lawnmower rental and more. Please keep in mind you can always donate tools to the tool rental program especially if they are in good condition and aren't being used. Transform Temple also offers an Adopt a Senior program that pairs church groups with seniors who can't take care of their own lawn. This is where donating tools to the program is so important. The more lawnmowers they have the more senior can enter into the program. You can reach Nancy for more information on at 254-298-5997 or via email at NGlover@TempleTX.GOV.

Brian Chandler is with the Temple Planning Department and he is encouraging everyone to get involved and share your opinion on how you would like to see the city grow in the years ahead. Now is the time to discuss parks, roads, and the future of our community. You can see the plan in motion at TempleByDesign.com. Join Brian and the planning department coming up Tuesday, June 4th from 5:30 to 7:30 at Gober House (1566 W. Ave H) to discuss your ideas. Bringing the kids is no problem as they'll have snacks and a kids zone so the little ones can stay busy while you discuss ideas with the planning committee. Everyone is welcome even if you can only stay for 15 minutes. Your thoughts and opinions matter. We hope you can make it.
