The Central Texas College Board of Trustees announced Tuesday that KNCT-TV, the school's PBS affiliate station would cease broadcasting at Midnight August 31st.

According to Matt Payne at The Killeen Daily Herald, the decision was announced on Tuesday after an earlier meeting in February 2018 in which the board voted to not move the public television station to another channel due to an FCC requirement that the channel be moved from channel 46 to channel 17 by March 2020. The move would have cost the school $1.76 million dollars, a cost the board of trustees felt would be too costly considering the school was losing $418,000 annually keeping the station operating.

CTC will continue to offer local programming through internet streaming and social media and the decision will not impact the radio/television academic program. KNCT-FM 91.3 will also not be affected by the decision.
