It's been three weeks since Emberley Bandy of Bosqueville was run over by a parade float, and though she's still recovering, she was able to surprise her friends by appearing at a pep rally Friday.

Drake Lawsom with our partners at News 10 report that Emberley, a fifth grade student, was riding a float in a homecoming parade three weeks ago when she feel and was run over. Her parents were out of town celebrating their anniversary when it happened, and told News 10 they're thankful to the teachers and other community members who helped her daughter and stayed by her side as they made their way home.

"They just did a phenomenal job," Melissa Bandy said. "One of her teachers rode in the ambulance with her."

The Bandy family say their daughter has kept a positive attitude throughout the ordeal. She's recovering from leg surgery and can't put much pressure on her legs, but when she attended a pep rally on Friday, she stood for the national anthem and her school's song.

Way to go, Emberley! We wish you a swift recovery.
