Big Tex has made a big comeback.

The 52 foot tall Texan greeted visitors to the State Fair of Texas for 60 years, but an electrical fire that started in the statue's jaw last October tragically burned the icon to the ground.

You can't keep a good Texan down, though. Big Tex rose from the ashes and a new statue was unveiled yesterday ahead of the opening of the fair today. It seems he was eager to greet the public too, as high winds prompted fair officials to unveil the new and improved Big Tex a day earlier than planned.
