Best Damn Thing I Ate In Central Texas: Hawaiian Mixed Plate
Its been a pretty hectic couple of weeks for me, and anyone can tell you that it takes a couple of weekends to recover from SXSW and all the Spring Break shenanigans I've been getting into recently. So, its been tough for me to go out and about to try out different food for "The Best Damn Thing I Ate In Central Texas" but luckily one of our area's favorite and beloved restaurants just so happens to be across the street from our Copperas Cove studio!
C&H Hawaiian Grill is well-known by foodies all across the region for its authentic Hawaiian food. I've visited Hawaii twice (and married a Hawaiian girl) so I'm very familiar with the food and culture and C&H is as close to getting a taste of the islands as you're going to find in our area.
They have a great menu that's not confusing or overwhelming, my personal favorite is the Teriyaki Chicken but for the sake of this article, if you haven't been to one of their 2 locations in Killeen or Copperas Cove, try the "Mixed Plate" where you can a sample of each of their best dishes including brisket, teriyaki chicken, and your choice of a pork rib or Kalua Pig (a Hawaiian specialty of smoked and roasted pulled pork that's cooked in ground according to Hawaiian tradition...CHOOSE THE KALUA PIG).
