Man's best friend will once again have a chance to hang out with his or her doggy buds and splash around for a barkin' good time at this year's Soggy Doggy Day.

COVID-19 cancelled the day last summer, but it's on this year at the Harris Community Park Splash Pad, 310 N. Alexander St in Belton, on Saturday, September 11 and hosted by the Belton Parks and Recreation.

According to the Belton Journal, Harris Community Park Splash Pad will be fenced off and lots of activities are planned for this year's event like a photo booth, so you can capture the moment for a lifetime, and dog paw canvas art.

Recreation Coordinator for the Belton Parks and Recreation department, Manuel Zapata, tells the Belton Journal, “It’s an important definitely to just allow the pets to have this unique opportunity to be able to playing the water and just to socialize, really. It’s a great opportunity not just for the pets to play in the water, but we’re also going to have other activities there for the pets and pet owners.”

The Harris Community Park Splash Pad will open from 10-1 PM on the 11th, and yes, there are some rules to follow including pet owners having to be at least 16 years of age and no children under the age of 12 will be allowed inside the fenced-off area.

Your dog must also be caught up on rabies and DHLPPV vaccines, and puppies must be at least six months old and also caught up on their parvo shots. No female dogs in heat please, as that might make her the most popular dog in the pool. Also, no dogs known to be aggressive to people will be allowed.

Doggy sunscreen may be needed, but I'll leave that up to you.
