A house fire just outside of Temple's city limits left one of our neighbors homeless this week.

Temple Fire & Rescue crews were dispatched to the 6300 block of Pat Cole Road shortly after 7 PM Sunday. When they arrived, they spotted smoke and flames issuing from a house located far away from the road. The fire was under control by 7:45 PM, but the smoke and fire damage were so extensive that the home was declared a total loss.

Fortunately, the sole occupant of the home was not injured. However, they were left without a home, and are being assisted by the Red Cross.

Because the home is in an area not considered to be within Temple city limits, the fire is being investigated by Bell County Fire Marshal Steve Casey.
