Election Day has come and gone, and while some people are genuinely thrilled with the results, others are not, and that's perfectly acceptable. That's simply the nature of voting there has to be a winner. What I find alarming is that the New York Times reported a troubling surge of dangerous and ignorant racist text messages sent to Black individuals throughout the state of Texas.

THIS IS NOT ONLY IGNORANT, IT IS DANGEROUS!

The NAACP indicated that several states received similar hateful texts, and the attorney general in at least one other state confirmed that they had been reported as well. The FBI has acknowledged being aware of these offensive messages and is coordinating with the Justice Department and other federal agencies. White House spokesperson Patterson emphasized that" racism has no place in our country, stating that we strongly condemn these hateful messages and anyone who targets Americans based on their ethnicity or background. "It's truly a sad and shameful situation.

WHO IS REALLY TO BLAME FOR THIS?

Some people want to blame President Trump’s victory for this surge in racial comments, suggesting that it made individuals feel encouraged to express such sentiments. However, the truth is that Donald Trump did not encourage anyone to act with racism; just as kindness is a choice, so is racism. Ultimately, it’s up to each individual to decide who they want to be, and the responsibility for that choice lies solely with them. I have lived in Texas my entire life, and I consider myself fortunate not to have directly experienced much racial discrimination, but that doesn’t diminish how offensive and painful it is. There is only one race, the human race, and ALL TEXANS SHOULD ACT ACCORDINLY!
