Aretha Franklin has, arguably, one of the greatest voices in soul music. So it's interesting to hear the Queen of Soul tackle one of the biggest songs in 2010 by another powerful vocalist, Adele.

The veteran R&B songbird releases her rendition of Adele's hit song 'Rolling in the Deep,' which is from her upcoming covers album, 'Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Classics.'

Using the same stirring production of the original tune, Franklin's 'Rolling in the Deep' is a more soulful reinterpretation with a chorus of 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' added for good measure. The 72-year-old vocalist sounds vibrant as she belts out some impressive notes.

However, critics notice that Franklin's vocals are distorted in the first verse and suggest that she might have used Auto-Tune. Really? The Queen of Soul using software to enhance her vocals? Oh, the agony.

Honestly, after listening to the song, it sounds like it was a YouTube glitch rather than anything Auto-Tune-related. But who knows?

Vocal controversies aside, Franklin's covers album, 'Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Classics,' is scheduled to arrive in stores on Oct. 21. The collection boasts renditions of such classic songs like the Prince-penned 'Nothing Compares 2 U,' Etta James' 'At Last,' Alicia Keys' 'No One' and a mash-up of Gloria Gaynor's 'I Will Survive' and Destiny's Child's 'I'm A Survivor.'
