Over the last decade here in Central Texas, on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, our community unites to pay homage to our fallen heroes and veterans by going to the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery to lay wreaths on every grave as part of "The Wreath Project". With more than 8,000 graves to cover, it takes a small army to accomplish this monumental but respectful task.

This year's wreath laying ceremony will happen on Saturday November 25th beginning at 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery located at 11463 State Highway 195 in Killeen. Family and friends of those buried at the cemetery will lay wreaths for their loved ones first. Volunteers will then lay wreaths at all remaining graves.

Participants are encouraged to use the park and ride system to avoid traffic and long parking lines. Parking is at Texas A&M University – Central Texas on SH 201. Buses will run every 10 minutes from 8 a.m. to noon transporting passengers to and from the veterans cemetery. This will be the most efficient way to attend the ceremony. Motorcyclists may participate in the wreath escort to the cemetery. Riders should meet at 8 a.m. Saturday at the parking lot of Killeen Special Events Center, 3301 South W.S. Young Drive. The escort will leave at 8:40 a.m.
