Worst Jobs to Have on a Hot Texas Day
Summer's in Texas can get just the teensiest bit warm, and there are some jobs no sane person should do this time of year. None of the jobs on this list are as herculean as slaving over a hot microphone all day, but they're still pretty tough. Let's pay our respects to the people who do them.
Sign Spinner
Those guys trying to get you to save on car insurance or check out a hot sale on golf clubs while dressed as Lady Liberty make it look like they're having the time of their lives, but don't be fooled. They're sweating gallons and wondering if that Playstation 4 is really worth it.
Theme Park Mascot
Nothing screams fun in the sun like wearing a 30 pound costume in 100+-degree heat, never knowing if that kid running toward you wants a hug and a photo or to kick you in the knee. But at least you can ride the tilt-a-whirl after hours, so that's a perk.
Mail Carrier
Neither heat nor lack of air conditioning nor quick, angry doggos stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.
Summer School Teacher
Sure you're not out in the heat, but that's the tough part. You've sacrificed your summer to cram a year's worth of learning into a few weeks to help kids, and for that, we salute you.
Lifeguard
If you're taking your duties seriously, it means being responsible for a hundred or more people's lives as they run, splash, and dive into a giant pool of impending doom. Oh, and most of them are kids. No pressure.
Roofer
Do I even need to write anything?
