Set your DVR's for March 9th at 9:00 pm Central for, a new groundbreaking series on WGN America called "Underground" executive produced by John Legend among others which tells the story of slaves on a pre-Civil War plantation seeking to flee to the North.

I'm personally looking forward to this show because like its namesake, it's loosely based on the "Underground Railroad" and before you go saying "but we don't need another 'slave' movie or tv show about it', Take it from the perspective of the show's creator and writer Misha Green in an interview with Black Enterprise:

It’s not about the occupation; it’s about the revolution. This is a story that has not been told before. We have a little paragraph in some history books about this time period. But this is an inspiring story that shows what can be accomplished when we stick together. It shows how people traveled 600 miles with people hunting them every step to get to freedom. It shows the ingenuity they used. It shows the people along the railroad who were helping them, who weren’t even part of the movement but they were risking their lives. It shows what we can do when we all come together. - Misha Green via Black Enterprise

It'll definitely be an interesting watch so check it out tomorrow night!
