TLC performed at the 2013 American Music Awards Sunday night (Nov. 24) with a surprise guest who may be unwelcomed by a few of the group's diehards. Lil Mama took Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes's place as Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas sang their 1994 hit song 'Waterfalls.'

Although her solo career has sputtered after the low sales of her debut album, Lil Mama has received renewed public attention thanks to portrayal of Left Eye in the VH1 biopic, 'CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story.' The 'Lip Gloss' rapper hastily performed Left Eye's verse on TLC worldwide smash hit.

Lil Mama's appearance has been met with a mixed response on Twitter, with some referring her famed
Jay Z's performance during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

At the end, a giant image of Left Eye was projected on a screen behind the trio, which was a nice touch to an otherwise lukewarm performance.
