Throwback Jam Of The Week: “Let The Beat Hit Em”

I'm so surprised so many folks forgot about this jam from the 90's! Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam were 80's R&B stars with their love ballads and high energy dance jams but saw their careers turning downward when things went more "hardcore" in R&B but they supplied us with one final smash hit before splitting up in 1991.

"Let The Beat Hit Em" came at a time when producers relied heavily on samples from older records to create a fusion of funk and techno dance music which was the wave in the early 90's. It was a number 1 hit on both the R&B and "Club" charts for most of the year but the group would disband shortly after its release to pursue other projects.
