UPDATE 2:22 PM, Monday, March 21

The Temple Police Department issued the following statement Monday in regards to a shooting incident reported Friday:

On Friday March [18], 2016, at about 3:15 pm, Temple Police Officers responded to the 800 block of East Garfield Ave. in reference to a report of a shots fired call.

Officers arrived on scene and found one subject lying in the roadway, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper leg. Initial information provided to officers on scene indicated that several subjects arrived in the area by vehicle and exchanged gunfire with subjects outside of a residence in the 800 block of East Garfield.

The subject found on scene was transported to Baylor Scott and White Hospital by ambulance. Officers later learned that two more individuals suffering from gunshot wounds had arrived at the Emergency Room by private vehicle. One suffering a gunshot wound to the lower leg and the other to the lower torso. All victims are reported to be in stable condition.

Officers on scene were given several varying descriptions of the suspect vehicle. There are several outstanding suspects. The names of the victims are being withheld pending further investigation.

This case is being investigated by Detectives from the Temple Police Department’s General Investigations Unit.

Two people underwent surgery and another was hospitalized after shots were fired in Temple Friday afternoon.

The shooting occurred in the 800 block of East Garfield Avenue shortly after 3 PM.

Police have not yet commented on the shooting or the condition of the victims.
