Temple police confirmed Monday night that three people have been arrested in connection to a shooting that left a man dead on Betsy Ross Drive Monday afternoon.

Police responded to a report of shots fired in the area at 2:15 PM. They found an injured man and attempted CPR, but the victim's wounds proved fatal. Officers blocked access to the street and a stretch of Saulsbury Drive as they searched the area for suspects, even calling in the Texas Rangers and a DPS helicopter to assist in the search. Meanwhile, nearby schools were placed on lockdown.

Around 7 PM, detectives still working at the scene of the crime were advised of suspicious activity at a home in the 800 block of Betsy Ross. A homeowner gave police consent to search the property, and three men suspected of involvement in the shooting were discovered inside the home.

A Temple PD spokesperson said no formal charges had been filed as of 11:09 PM. The investigation was still in the preliminary phase late Monday night, and we are awaiting more details.
