Texas Town Deals With Black Water Shortly After FBI Arrests City Officials
The small town of Crystal City, Texas can't get a break. After FBI arrested its mayor, city manager and all but one city councilmen for bribery and illegal gambling about a week ago, the town of 7,500 people is now experiencing a water crisis.
There is no tap water in the city that is safe to drink as Crystal City residents have been reporting black water is running through their water faucets. Not brown, or dirty water. Black water. The water ran black due to renovations on the municipal water tank as sediment leaked into the distribution lines, according to a Facebook notice published by city officials.
While the city is under duress, a positive light came into the story on Friday as neighboring Texas volunteers donated bottles of water while environment officials test the water for chemicals and bacteria.
