Texas' Parks and Wildlife Department will begin selling 2017-2018 hunting and fishing licenses on Tuesday, August 15.

With the exception of year-to-date fishing licenses, all current Texas hunting and fishing licenses will expire on August 31.

New licenses can be purchased at TPWD offices, state parks, retailers, via phone (1-800-895-4248), or online at www.tpwd.texas.gov/buy. There's a $5 fee for phone and online transactions, but multiple items may be purchased during each transaction.

Lifetime license holders will need to update their red drum license tag and federal duck stamp unless they've submitted a request for lifetime license tags.

Texans buying new licenses can enter to win a Lifetime Super Combo License for an additional $5. Winners will never have to buy new hunting or fishing licenses in Texas. Drawings will be held on October 2, November 1, and December 1. The deadline to enter is Saturday, September 30. More information about this contest is available at tpwd.texas.gov/licensedraw.

License purchasers can also enter to win a Big Time Texas Hunts hunting package for $9. For information about that giveaway, visit tpwd.texas.gov/buyentry.

Hunters and anglers purchasing licenses will also have the option of donating to either the Hunters for the Hungry program, which processes deer meat to stock food pantries, or the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans' Assistance, which provides grants for veterans and their families.

Texas Parks and Wildlife issues over 2 million hunting and fishing licenses annually, the proceeds from which fund conservation efforts, parks management, and more.
