Update 4:38 PM: Police have identified the deceased man as 20-year-old Daquan Turner. Authorities have notified his family and continue to investigate his death.

Police in Temple are working to identify a young man found dead in Carver Park Monday morning.

Police responded to the park at 1412 S. 4th Street around 7:15 a.m. after a citizen reported a possible deceased body. When officers and a Scott & White EMS team arrived, they found a man hanging from a piece of playground equipment. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace David Barfield, who ordered an autopsy to be performed at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

Authorities say the man did not have anything in his possession which they could use to identify him. He is described as a black male in his late teens or early twenties wearing a purple shirt and khaki shorts. He also has a tattoo on his left forearm.

Police have not commented on the cause of death pending identification of the man and notification of his family. Anyone who may have information about this case is asked to call the Temple Police Department at 254-298-5500.
