Police in Temple have identified the victim of a Thursday night hit-and-run that left a woman dead, and they say the driver is still at large.

Investigators say 48-year-old Veronica Salinas was attempting to cross Interstate 35 near Exit 302 and Industrial Boulevard shortly before 8:46 PM Thursday when she was hit by a car. Salinas passed away at the scene, and the driver who struck her did not stop.

Police say any vehicles involved in the incident would likely have suffered extensive damage, and they're hoping the public can help them identify the car that struck Salinas.

Anyone who may have witnesses the collision or has any information is asked to contact Temple Police at (254) 298-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-729-8477. Information may also be submitted at bellcountycrimestoppers.com or via the P3 Tips mobile app. Crime Stoppers will not ask your name, and information leading to an arrest could net a cash reward of up to $1,000.
