Temple Police Investigating Two Weekend Robberies
Police in Temple are investigating two convenience store robberies that occurred over the weekend.
The first robbery took place Saturday, March 7 at the Third Street Food Mart, 1319 N. 3rd St. The victim told police he was walking to his car with his purchases when two young men approached him, displayed a gun, and demanded cash. As the robbery was taking place, the store clerk came outside carrying garbage meant for the dumpster. The suspects then reportedly tried to hide their weapon and act as if nothing was happening, even asking the victim for a cigarette. The victim gave the two men an entire pack of cigarettes and re-entered the store with the clerk as the suspects fled.
The two suspects were described as young black men in their early 20s, or possibly younger. One was said to be arond 5'8" with a thin build, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt. The other was approximately 5'6" with a similar build to the first suspect, wearing a black and white baseball cap and a dark jacket with a zipper up the front.
The second robbery occurred Sunday, March 8 at the Cefco convenience store located at 22514 S.E. HK Dodgen Loop. Police arrived shortly before 4:30 a.m. after receiving a 911 call. A witness told officers that a man entered the store, struck the clerk, and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect fled on foot.
The suspect was described as as a black man, approximately 6' tall and weighing around 200-220 pounds. He was last seen wearing a red hooded shirt, black pants, and a red rag over his face.
