A woman who accepted responsibility for the death of local tow truck driver Scott Bowles has been sentenced to five years adjudication probation.

Our news partner, KWTX, reports that Sybil Warrick, who pleaded no contest to a charge of negligent homicide, was sentenced by 264th District Judge Paul LePak during a hearing Tuesday. The conviction will not appear on her record if she successfully completes her probation.

According to KXXV, Warrick will also be prohibited from operating a vehicle during her probation and will pay $580 restitution to Bowles' family. The Temple Daily Telegram reports that Warrick will be allowed to serve her probation in Arkansas due to medical reasons.

Bowles was fatally injured while attempting to aid a stranded motorist on Highway 190/Interstate 14 in Harker Heights on May 11, 2017. He was attempting to load the driver's vehicle onto his wrecker when he was struck by a mini-van, the driver of which didn't stop. His leg was amputated, and he passed away a short time later at Seton Medical Center.
