If you were a kid growing up anytime between the early 1970's to the late 1990's then you fondly remember getting up on the weekends to watch "The Hippest Trip In America", the iconic TV show Soul Train. Now the famed TV show is getting a musical on Broadway in the near future.

According to Deadline, a musical based on the show is coming to Broadway in 2021. The musical will feature more than 20 hit songs from the Soul Train era which started in 1971 while telling the personal story of the show's creator and host Don Cornelius.

Playwright Dominique Morisseau (Ain’t Too Proud), director Kamilah Forbes (Meet Vera Stark) and choreographer Camille A. Brown (Choir Boy, Once on This Island) will form the nucleus of the creative team, with The Roots’ Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson (The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon) as an executive producer. - via Deadline

Tony Cornelius, son of the late Don Cornelius who died in 2012, will also executive produce the show which is hoping for a 2021 opening to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the show's TV debut.
