Slowbucks Holds Press Conference on 50 Cent Summer Jam Incident

In hip-hop circles, a beatdown or a chain-snatching usually stays confined to the involved parties, and rarely do authorities get involved. But not this time, as Slow of the Slowbucks fashion brand just hired a civil investigator to look into the violent incident that occurred at Summer Jam earlier this week.

Video footage surfaced of the Slowbucks founder getting jumped and apparently robbed during 50 Cent and Fabolous' performance at the show.

Many believe the attack was ordered by the G-Unit leader. On Wednesday (June 4), during an interview with Angie Martinez, Fif said he had nothing to do with it. But Slow's attorney, John P Bostany, of the Bostany Law Firm, strongly disagrees.

"I looked at the videos and I heard 50's interview on [Hot] 97 by Angie, who did an excellent job," said Bostany at a press conference arranged by Slow. "I heard his responses and his demeanor. If you look at him he says, 'Oh, I was looking at the crowd. I didn't know what was going on behind me. I was happy that day.' But if you look at him when he's telling that story, he doesn't look happy. He doesn't look like he wants to talk about it."

There hasn't been an official lawsuit filed by Slow, however, he'll likely move forward based on the results of the investigation.

The Slowbucks leader hiring a lawyer raises some eyebrows since hip-hop beefs rarely involve legal folks, as it can be considered snitching by those who follow that particular code. But Bostany says his client should be applauded for handling things through the courts instead of the streets, not penalized.

"What happened on Sunday would have brought us back 20 years if we weren't dealing with a warrior like Slowbucks," stated Bostany. "True warriors have the strength to react with honor. It's easy and cheap to react with violence."

"Here Slowbucks walked a straight line, he had the courage and the strength to come here and remind everyone that no matter how rich or powerful some might become, how popular they may be, they still are not above the law."

Additionally, the civil investigator said 50's overall plan with the beating was to water down the Slowbucks brand by having its founder look weak.

"They know he is the founder of Slowbucks, the No. 1 urban brand on the rise today," said Bostany. "They want to hurt that brand, and they are trying to hurt that brand. We are going to put an end to that. We're here. I'm a trademark attorney. I'm a copyright attorney and I fight unfair competition."

Surely, there's a lot more to come because it doesn't seem like Slow or his attorney are putting this incident to rest.
