Even though it's a small town with a population of roughly 5,000 people, the city of Bowie, TX set a pretty big goal - actually more than just pretty big. A world record.

it seems fitting that Bowie claimed that it's home to the worlds largest knife after it's unveiling Thursday afternoon. The city and the knife were named after a Texas hero, Jim Bowie, who died at the Alamo.

The knife weighs 3,000 pounds and is measured to be about 25-feet high. But don't worry, this landmark was not paid for with taxpayer money. Every bit of the statue was funded by private donations.

City officials are current attempting to make the worlds biggest knife official and are currently waiting to hear back from Guinness Book of World Records.

Guess we'll have to add another world record held in the state of Texas.
