It’s official. Serena Williams is the GOAT of tennis. The 35-year-old athlete beat her older sister, Venus, to win her 23rd Grand Slam singles title at the Australian Open on Saturday (Jan. 28).

Serena victoriously won her emotionally-draining All-Williams Final matchup 6-4, 6-4. The win pushed Serena to the No. 1 ranking in the world and broke fellow tennis icon Steffi Graf’s record of winning the most major titles in the Open era. It also established her as the oldest woman ever to win a major at age 35.

"We're both 30-fun, in our mid-30-funs," joked Serena about herself and Venus's age (she is 36) after the match.

Overall, Serena and Venus are humbled by their accomplishments in the world of Tennis. Their match at the Australian Open was culmination of years of hard work they have put into the game.

"I felt like it was more just a celebration for everything we've done in sports, everything we've done for women, everything we've tried to do to inspire people," Serena told ESPN. "This was my first Slam. My first big match against Venus was right here on this stadium court. I felt like everything had really come full circle."

"I don't think we're going for the greatest story in sports; we're just going for some dreams," added Venus.

After the game, Serena received a gift of custom made "23 Grand Slam" Air Jordan sneakers from the basketball icon himself Michael Jordan (watch the video below).

Congratulations to Serena Williams on her historic win at the Australian Open. And a big salute to the Williams sisters for being iconic players in the world of Tennis.
