Remembering Natalie Cole

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Natalie Cole on New Year's Eve due to congestive heart failure. She was 65.

Natalie had health issues for years, but she and her family chose to keep it a secret. One of her sisters recently sat down with ET and revealed, "She was very protective of her family and her close friends, and I don't think that she wanted people to start feeling sorry for her. She really thought and prayed that she would overcome this."

Overcoming a strong drug addiction problem in 2007, she was diagnosed with Hepatitis C and had a kidney transplant. After the transplant is when Natalie began to have complications with her heart. The family said they knew 2015 would be her last Christmas.
