This weekend thousands from all over the world descended upon Selma, Alabama to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of "Bloody Sunday", when hundreds of peaceful protesters were attacked by Alabama State Police and civilians while trying to cross the Edmund Pettus Bridge on their way to Montgomery.This seminal moment in the Civil Rights struggle was seen by millions around the world and helped bring about many of the changes we see today in America.
