Lions Park in Temple is closed and undergoing sanitation after officials say over 230,000 gallons of waste water overflowed due to the recent rainy weather.

The city issued the following press release Monday evening:

City of Temple Wastewater Overflows

TEMPLE, TX, - March 14, 2016 – As a result of last week’s storms and excessive rainfall, the City of Temple’s wastewater system has experienced significant wastewater overflows at:
Lion’s Park (4320 Lion’s Park Rd) – 230,000 gallons
2400 blk of S. 61st Street – 73,000 gallons

Lion’s Park has been closed and citizens are urged to exercise caution in and around the affected areas, including nearby drainage ditches and small streams. Public Works crews are on-site performing cleanup and disinfection of these areas. These events in no way harm the City of Temple’s water supply. City of Temple residents should not experience any interruption of water services.
