A benefit to honor a Killeen police officer killed in the line of duty is set to take place on Thursday, with Cory Morrow headlining.

Robert Hornsby, a Killeen SWAT officer, was killed during a shootout at the Grandon Manor Apartments in Killeen on July 14. Hornsby, a married father of two, was the first officer killed in the line of duty in Killeen in almost a century. In July, a memorial was held at the Killeen Civic and Conference centered that saw hundreds of community members attend to show their support.

This Thursday, a local business is holding a benefit for Hornsby's family, featuring Texas music legend Cory Morrow, an auction and more.

Other bands at the benefit include Kirk Baxley and The Statesboro Review. There will be a live and silent auction for gift cards, sports and music memorabilia.  Schoepfs will also be selling T-shirts, koozies, bracelets and stickers with 100 percent of all proceeds going to Officer Hornsby's family.

Since his tragic death, the community has responded with an outpouring of support for Hornsby's family, with numerous benefits and a memorial fund set up to assist them.
