McLennan County sheriff's deputies and Texas Rangers are searching for a man who attempted to abduct a student in the Moody High School parking lot Thursday morning.

According to our news partner KWTX, the teen was returning from a cross-country practice run around 6:30 a.m. when a man reportedly stepped out of a truck and grabbed her from behind. The girl was able to escape and run to the school's field house, where she told a coach what happened. The man had fled the parking lot by the time authorities arrived.

The girl described her attacker as a white male, appropriately 6' with a "soul patch" (thin strip of facial hair from lip to chin), and driving a dark colored Chevrolet extended cab pickup truck.

Police say the description of the suspect is similar to the description of one of two men who approached a 10-year-old girl in Lampasas on September 20. The girl told police she was riding her bicycle in the 700 block of West 3rd Street when an old model pickup truck stopped next to her and a man told her to get in. When she refused, one of the men exited the truck and approached the girl. When the girl's older sister saw what was happening, she and the girl fled on their bikes.

The girls said both men wore white clothing and white hats that may have been made of straw. The man who left the truck was reportedly of medium build and approximately 6' tall.
